Months ago I asked a Democrat, just a normal person, was it alright for Obama to drone kill a U.S. citizen. Response: “If it is in the country’s best interests”. I have little doubt what will happen if the Democrats come to full power. The DoD is setting the stage.

I sent Grant Smith’s article to a liberal friend, but i don't believe he read it and he would not respond directly to my assertion that this is a fundamental problem and every American should condemn it. He is one of the more reasonable ones, so I expect most libs will say this is a good thing. At least until Trump is reelected.

Robert Barnes had a different take that this change only elevated the approval level for an authority that already exists. I made a note and posted a video at the beginning of my initial post. I still have concerns, but more because the reason for the change isn't clear.

I watched the video. I see what he is saying, rereading the text on that page. Had I watched that video prior to writing this, this would have been a different essay. Still, it is the authority to kill Americans, if the Secretary of Defense says yes, which is not for the DoD to decide.

I added the video in the footnotes.

I am worried about a civil war. People think it will be fun and games. A lot of people will die. Including many noncombatants due to grid collapse, lack of food, no clean water, and being cut off from medical care.

Agreed. At most risk would be the elderly in nursing homes, of which there are tens of millions. Next would be anyone living in cities. But we would all be vulnerable in this just-in-time delivery society. Environmentalists used to point out the average meal traveling 1500 mile to get to your plate, is a waste of hydrocarbons. I was always like, for the past two decades, imagine the disruptions in the event of war? Most could not conceive of that. As for those who think it would be fun, most of them would de dead within a year.

Even in a farming community due to the needlessly complex supply chain a lot of folks would go hungry just because they will continue to cling to the notion that things must continue as always.

I'm isolated on my parents' hobby farm and powerless to do anything thanks to complex circumstances. including iatrogenic injury. My family dismisses me as insane. Or did till recently. Now they are horribly sick and no longer laugh when I share my fears about that horrid clot shot they insisted on taking repeatedly.

My best wishes for you and your family. Yes, even in farm country, I marvel at how few gardens I see. There used to be little farm stands all over, selling produce, there are few now. Even in war there are markets, but never before have a people been so dependent.

That said, you are alive. Make the absolute best of your time while you have it.

Yes I have been working on regional food system ‘from here for here’ branding around the Ohio river valley bioregion. Because foodless farm country is insane. I forgot that I first found you on jmg until I saw your fortuna ref… good work here as usual. Come to our food festival and tell your friends! Http://heritagefoodfest.org

Great work. Alas, that is right during deer hunting here, otherwise I would consider it. Otherwise I will pass it on as a note.

I have been reading Simon Sinek’s “Start With Why”. Our “Why” is: SURVIVAL. He uses a diagram of three concentric circles with Why in the center, next circle is How and the outer circle is What. The “What” is goals. The “How” is tactics to achieve the goals. The “Why” is the reason for the goals, the guiding principle and is properly expressed in a vision statement.

We need to not just stay alive but also keep our American ideals alive as well. This is a fight for our culture and our civilization. No one else can do it.

One advantage of the West being attacked in the same ways by the same forces is that we can use it to unify all Western countries and peoples. America as is may not survive but what comes after can be better and stronger. As long as we survive to apply the lessons learned in this conflict we will win.

America is the one place in the West to stop the march of globalists. I will look into Simon's work, because while it is easy to critique the technocrats and the pathology of the left, there is no clear vision articulated of an American Restoration.

Agreed. There is no clear vision for the future of not only America but also Western Civilization. In this I see great opportunity. As Sinek explains, once you have your “Why”, figuring out the Whats and the Hows becomes easier and the path clearer. One good analogy is climbing a mountain. The “Why” is: “Because it’s there.” The What-goals are the safest route and the camp spots along the way. The How-tactics are dictated by the conditions.

The ancient “Why” of Western Civilization is “to become like the gods.” We don’t necessarily need to aspire to divinity but we can and should continue the upward spiral of our culture and eventually become the masters of the earth and then space.

I am a bit agnostic about humans becoming masters of space, but I do believe the Age of Aquarius in the main will be a good deal more peaceful than the Age of Pisces. The path is not clear but set the intent and do what is necessary.

Still, I'm hoping for option #3 William.

I have seen it mentioned here on SS, but thank you for starting the conversation.
