What can I say about women? The Feminine is not the opposite of the Masculine. Instead it is the missing half. The integrated person is both feminine and masculine, those aspects are complementary. One does not dominate. A man without a woman, and vice versa, is incomplete. This is not to say that any male-female couple is by definition balanced, we must be careful to find balance with the opposite sex. I suspect this is difficult when you are 18, as you haven’t found yourself yet. The single man can evaluate candidate women for their ability to provide balance and completeness. Likewise, the single woman can evaluate candidate men for their ability to provide balance and completeness.
It is said the magical adept becomes solitary, something like a hermit. Should I ever become seriously involved with a woman again, it will be an alchemical marriage, both of us making each other better and stronger. And yes, we all have masculine and feminine traits.
Merlin is the most famous. Pythagoras is considered too. Paracelsus. Many others are discussed in the literature. Our contemporary John Michael Greer probably is, though he would probably not admit it, of humility.
Excellent reading! I grew up a very conservative Christian, and Tarot was very verboten. However, I see it as a tool now. It may be applied or abused based on the intent of the operator, nothing more. It illuminates truth and helps gives life, or it can be misused to bring destruction and deception.
I got some good stuff to mull over from your reading. I especially appreciated this point.
“Many of the protestors calling to end the war in Gaza are not honoring dead Palestinians, they are protesting because it makes them feel powerful and rightious, which is the inversion of honor.”
Thank you Simon. I lost three subs for merely mentioning the Tarot, I suspect (I lose subs every time I discuss the esotere), such is the fear drummed up about it. It is a fine tool as you say though, for perspective, awareness, and changing consciousness for the better.
Ooo..I often just forget to restack. I'll go check.
However- that stack was well written, personable, intriguing, with down to Earth insight into the three cards ( as well as how you're applying the insights).
One of the flaws in the whole Devil story is that Lucifer is God's best employee. He runs the Other Place which is necessary for the Nice Place to exist. God runs the whole shebang in the end though. Evil is a creation of God. Most Christians don't like to hear that but Good and Evil are just human concepts reflecting how we are of dual nature. Even nature itself is dual as anything more than that leads to chaos (ironically found in the maths paper Period Three Implies Chaos).
All Lucifer does is tempt. Man does the rest. For all his vanity, Lucifer ended up with a cushy number in the end. Plus he doesn't have to maintain the beauty treatment if he doesn't want to.
From the occult perspective, all of creation is of a dual nature, and for we humans that is a matter of choice. We choose to do good, or we don't. The devil in a sense too is like a human creation, such is our capacity for evil.
You have inspired me to get out my tarot decks. Since my 20’s I have been using them as a meditation tool and really enjoy the deep symbolism in them. Usually I use them during transition or crisis for insight which would be good right now.
I just did a reading and it always surprises me how on point the cards can be. Do you have a favorite deck? I used to have the Hanson/Roberts deck but now I really like the Wild Unknown deck and the Tarot of Golden Wheel. Both are beautiful.
I have been working with the Knapp-Hall deck for the last two years, a more traditional one recommended by John Michael Greer. I have worked with the Motherpeace, but found that to be too New Age feminist, and while I found the Thoth tarot of Aleister Crowley very beautiful, I found his reworking of it troublesome and descriptions to be arcane to the point of incomprehensible. I am not familiar with the ones you mention, though I am curious and will look into them.

I wish I had known this 30 years ago!

I've never heard of a magical adept. Sounds intriguing.

This was sublime.
That means a lot to me. Thank you. This was otherwise one of my least read, liked and restacked posts.

No sir... I want MORE of this.
Brilliant insights William. If you figure that out about women, let me know will ya.
Thank you. Will do…

They have been a good friend to me in times of trouble. Still working through this set.

I am often surprised by the cards too.
