Seeing your harvest brings me joy and satisfaction! Well done. Here’s to next year!

Beautiful bounty! Hunter, would some kind of thermo-cooling system work to keep the cellar at a cooler, more consistent temperature? I know a winemaker here in Central Coast California who built his system to cool the barrel room. It uses air from underground.

Thank you. Such a system might be good if I were supporting a lot more people, but otherwise this system works as well as we need now.

Oh good. I thought from your comment that maybe it was getting too warm in the cellar. Glad I was wrong!

Well, you weren't entirely wrong. Temps are cool again, but we had a stretch in the sixties. But the only thing left are potatoes and squash, the squash it at it's storage limits and most of the potatoes are putting on legs.

Excellent article! You are 1000% fsrther along than most of us are, considering you know HOW to do any of these skills : plan, garden, pickle, can, properly store.

For most, the learning curve is steep, and the time to do so is very short indeed.

Thank you!

As I always say though, not everyone is going to do that work at home, so if health depends largely on local whole foods for the self and community, support local farmers who do. And pay with cash as much as possible.

Your garden, work ethic and knowledge are impressive.

Herbs are so easy to grow. I can see you growing many in the borders around your garden. It was a beautiful garden last year and I imagine this season to be even better.

I live on a large lot on the outskirts of Portland. However, the property is bookended, East and West, with tall fir trees. I have to rent a plot at the church to grow food. I have herbs and tomatoes on my deck, but that is about all I can grow in the yard.

I enjoy the photos, videos and stories of your efforts.

Thank you.
