I agree. You WILL NOT regret spending this time with your parents. God bless you and your family.

Great post. A joy to read about experiencing and living real life amidst the chaos of the world.

I applaud you for giving up your life in the city to move back home and live with your aging parents. You did what most people in America would never do. We have been told for decades that you are not a real adult unless you move out and live your own life, solo, with no help from your family.

Rugged individualism or something to that effect. The ego is a hard nut to crack, but I believe it is the nut God wants cracked most of all.

God gave us family (hopefully a family that isn't abusive) and we all should embrace family for the short time on this earth. Imagine if individual's loved and helped family members what a better place this earth would be.

Thank you for being there for your mom and dad in their twilight years. I have been taking care of my mom for close to 30 years from a debilitating stroke she had when she was 56 years old. My dad died a year before she had her stroke from radiation poisoning (cancer "treatment").

My mom has been in and out of nursing homes and I see where many seniors go when the family abandons them because they have chosen to live their own lives without the hassle of "dealing with the old people." Most nursing homes are terrible, lonely places.

You are home, taking care of your parents and you are correct, that is manhood.

Merry second Christmas to you and your family.

Thanks Pug. There are a a LOT of assisted living homes around here, and all of them are short on workers, an so I presume not very pleasant places to be. I am hoping I can keep my folks away from such a fate.

Best second Christmas ever

May i make a suggestion re the cognitive decline?

I used to work in the same university as Prof Chris Exley who discovered that excess aluminium (from cookware, food packaging and vaccines absorbed over a lifetime) causes cognitive decline. His Alzheimers research was blocked at every turn.

If it is indeed alumimium is causing the problem, it can be halted. Aluminium binds with silica. The solution therefore is to drink mineral water with a high silica content. He mentions which brands have the highest content below:

Another solution is to drink nettle and horsetail tea, which would do the same job.

Silica rich water would be a stretch, but nettle and horsetail tea I can do. Nettle being one of the most nutritious plants on earth, it can't hurt. Thanks for the suggestion.

You're very welcome.

I like nettle in an overnight infusion. You fill a mason jar about a third full with nettles (and horsetail if you have some), fill to the top with boiled water and put the cap on.

Then drink throughout the day as a refreshing dark green mineral rich beverage.

This is the way.

Being present with our families is so very basic and important. We have a mix of ages in and about our household and many diverse situations. Always a challenge, always a joy. Working together to make a difference. Being male or female in the world successfully seems more a matter of choice about what sort of human being we wish to be and become. Males, females and families need strong vibrant cultures to support their work. Cheers!
