Technocratic, Tranhumanist Utopia
On the path in the micro and macro, to total control unto apocalypse
Something shifted in 2020, some overt attempt to redirect society, which I have been loosely describing to myself as the path to technocratic trans utopia. Utopia is defined by Merriam-Webster as “a place of ideal perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions.” This technocratic vision of this perfect society is a logical outcome of the industrial revolution, the rise of science and the supplanting of religious/enchanted consciousness with a generalized materialist worldview. It also feels increasingly like hell on earth in the making.
What would this technocratic, transhumanist utopia look like? First, some definitions. Technocrats are the functionaries of this high tech civilization, acting as one mind as we saw during Covid, wielding immense power over every aspect of society, while diffusing all responsibility. Transhumanism I am defining as a kind of ideology, that humans can be perfected, with the right set of perfect laws and codes, melding with the Machine, becoming unto like the singularity. Isolate any one technocrat and hardly a one of them would have anything to say at all about transhumanism, yet the laws and codes they set down by diktat are essentially transhumanist - we are just base matter with some electrical neurons firing, to be manipulated onto the proper path toward absolute, perfect and total control, on our way to merging with the machine mind.
We can surmise basic outcomes, long term, how that utopia might be structured, if the transhumanist vision were fulfilled.
Utopia would require absolute rule by technocrats. There would be no criticizing technocrats, or anyone who supports their rule. Hate speech laws in Scotland and Ireland, the Digital Services Act of the EU, Germany increasingly criminalizing contrarian speech, Canada moving to jail anyone who criticizes the government or officially declared oppressed people, the United States building a censorship industrial complex. Clearly progress and the arc of historical justice implies the silencing of anyone who would question “progress” or “justice” as it is defined by technocratic decree.
Androgyny would be the ideal. Anyone insisting on differences between men and women would be sent to transification camp. Puberty blockers might be a standard additive in children’s breakfast cricket meal and soy milk. As the proles are mostly sterilized, children gestate in machines, not human bodies, from the eggs and sperm of elite. A set number of proles are allowed to have children but only because there is some “labor” robots can’t do. Children will be taken from prole parents at birth, to be raised by technocrats to be like sex labor robots.
Currency will be digital, your ability to eat/make a living is dependent on supporting the system without question.
Proles are huddled into 15minute cities they cannot leave without permission, plied with drugs and virtual reality to enforce emasculation. Some 15 minute cities are more traditional labor camps for the incorrigible, life expectancy reduced to that of coal miners.
Everybody not designated as elite would be expected to take bimonthly multi-boosters for every illness under the sun.
Global human population orderly reduced to 1billion-500mil.
Machines will do most of the other necessary labor. Elites become cyborgs on the way to becoming machines. There will be a techie arms race, call it the Kurzweil effect - who downloads his mind onto the network and becomes the universal megalomaniac singularity.
Ok, that is enough of that. No one actually wants to live in such a world, except elite generally, a few technocrats, twinks, girlbosses and techie masters of the universe, which is like 6% of the population maybe. The utopia of pathocracy is dystopia for the vast majority of people.
Technocratic/transhumanist utopia in real time just looks like a legion of incompetent control freaks ridding institutions of anyone who questions anything (DIE!), hiring only those who will not question those who do the hiring, the institution fiercely defending and reinforcing incompetence. That is how you know this complex system is in a process of collapse, inevitably - short of a Caesar who would lay waste to the technocracy and deep state.
The only real solution is building parallel systems, that are capable of maintaining equilibrium in societal collapse, capable of assuming power in the vacuum. I keep repeating that, though I don’t actually have anything to report about what I am actually doing about that necessarily.
This particular Note got a lot of attention though, relative to my Notes generally, which spurred me to return to this draft. The pathological effect of the technocracy is altogether more mundane than Utopia.
An email to the technocrats at the International Building Codes:
I have been a general contractor for 25 years. I just moved from Minneapolis mn to Central mn. In Minneapolis I was required to dig footings 42" deep. Here I am required to dig them 60, which is not manually possible, or at the very least twice the effort. A mechanical auger will not work.
Fuck your technocratic, bullshit rules that have no basis in reality, that I am required to follow regardless. Destroying small businesses, driving the cost of building through the stratosphere, your existence is pathological. Complex systems will not survive the competency crisis of a predatory managerial state.
Sincerely,
William Hunter Duncan
No less than the venerable
commented and restacked it. Ms Nickson has written extensively, is on fire really, about the pathology of the managerial state aka technocracy.I dug the footings, eight of them for two small decks, 42 inches deep, because that was the rule in Minneapolis when I built decks there, and it never occurred to me the rule would be different 100 miles north. Digging these footings, there were old foundations, a sidewalk and tree roots the size of a mans arm in the way. Took me most of a day. Inspector arrives and says, they have to be 60 inches deep.
Maybe once in my lifetime the frost went that deep, wouldn’t really matter if it did, I say. I’ve seen decks on blocks that were mostly fine after 30 years. Inspector agrees the rule is BS. Tells me the rule in conservative Fargo ND, which is booming and 100 miles north of here, is 48”, while just across the border in liberal Moorehead Mn, which is in a state of collapse, people fleeing to Fargo, the rule is 60. The 60 inch designation starts about 30 miles south of here (People from northwestern Minnesota aren’t moving to Fargo ND because of footing depth codes, they are moving because there are more jobs, less taxes and cheaper rents because there is more construction of housing because there are less regulations.)
The Inspector knows it is bullshit, the county official my client knows, knows it is bullshit; this is not saturated black dirt that might expand and contract in the freeze/thaw cycle, it is glacial drift sand and gravel, which does not hold a lot of water, does not expand and contract in the freeze/thaw cycle. There is no real science behind this decree handed down from a great distance on high.
Technocrats exist to make rules, they have to make rules to justify their existence, the more rules they make the more the rules depart from reality. And yet we follow these rules, even after Covid. Fauci says “safe and effective”, in three days every technocrat in the land is squawking like a bird, safe and effective!, safe and effective!, squawk squawk.
Technocracy is obsessed with Climate Change!!!, one might think these rules about the depth of footings for decks might come up for review. The iron rule of technocracy though, is, the rules are infallible. You aren’t qualified to question the Science!
Imagine my fury. Holes are bigger than an auger, can’t use an auger, the manual post hole digger isn’t 60 inches long. Last five inches at least I had to remove the sand with a modified garden hoe, little by little. Took me most of another day, two days for eight footings and I haven’t even poured the concrete yet. And the most effed up thing is, five of the footings are for the phucking stairs, not even holding up the deck. Eighteen inch deep bell footings like they use for fence posts would suffice.
I’ve mentioned before, the business plan I was working on for a music/food/cannabis venue, went from one-mil to two-mil easy, because technocracy.
The technocracy wants to have the power to silence you, cancel you, take away your fossil fuel vehicles, take away your fossil fuel appliances, they want to force you to stop eating meat, they want to force you to take whatever pharmaceuticals The Science decides you should take. It is only a matter of time before the technocracy starts taking away property generally, to save the planet and democracy of course. It is the natural progression of unaccountable power. For every proverbial inch they are given they will take a mile at least.
Of course, there is something quite futile in sending a raging red-pill email to the technocrats at International Building Codes. Cathartic, maybe. Made for a nice Note for readers to resonate with, gained some subscribers (Welcome!). No one at IBC is going to touch it, most likely once they see the word fuck, that will be the last word anyone reads, it will be cast into the black hole that is technocratic accountability. John Carter in his astute, erudite piece about the “Cryptocracy”, recommended simply not following absurd rules and codes whenever possible, with extreme prejudice.
NS Lyons evoked the flame of the human spirit in his tour-de-force about the pathological managerial State, from last year:
It’s in my view now clear that humanity’s great task of the 21st century remains fundamentally the same as that left unfinished in the battles of the 20th: to reawaken and reassert the flame of the human spirit and reclaim its tradition of and natural right to self-governance. And then with that spirit, wielding the fire and sword of true human love and freedom, truth and right reason, to rise up in counter-revolution against the evil of its archenemy and tear the false order of managerialism and all its poisonous ideological spawn root and branch from the world forever.
Amen to that.
This being the first deck requiring code adherence I have built in this town, the first time I am meeting the inspector, who was very apologetic and solicitous, I was not about to confront him seriously. I would rather he be an ally in this fight than an enemy, if that is possible. But maybe next time I will force the issue. That extra 18inches essentially doubles the price of footings, besides being nonsensical and not scientific. There are two more inspections for this project, I expect to continue that conversation with him.
Does any of this seem like a route to utopia? But there is no utopia, there can be no place “of ideal perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions.” Anyone who claims they can get you there is either a madman or a Marxist, not worthy of you to take seriously, who is much more likely to get you killed than deliver you to some fabled destination that can’t exist. See, you just have to give them absolute power, control over everything and everybody, to make the world a perfect place.
Of course Utopia is just the other side of the coin to Apocalypse. That we are on the very verge of traveling to the stars is the other side of the coin of, we are headed back to a 1700’s energy per capita Dark Age, right quick. I used to tend toward apocalypse, I’m now agnostic about going to the stars, I tend to expect a step down “catabolic” process taking much longer than any human lifetime on the way to a lot less high tech society; but then too, the technocracy/deep state/managerial state is inflamed by the war in Ukraine, they continue to escalate, WWIII is more apocalypse than on-our-way-to-the-stars, more a lot less energy per capita in the short term than energy independence.
I’m by no means a Putin fanboy; the camp I’m sitting in is the “anti-dying slowly in a cloud of nuclear fallout camp”. Putin is no stranger to weaving bullshit narratives himself. After all, he never even “invaded” Ukraine; he conducted a “special military operation”. The more we in the West convince ourselves, or are told by our betters, that Russia can be attacked with impunity, the more it will be. The more Russia is attacked, the greater the chance of retaliation because the Russian people will demand it.
Yet, astonishingly, Western establishment politicians and journalists are unable to see and understand basic logic in the same way they managed to convince themselves or compartmentalise foreign rape gangs or that a piece of paper doesn’t make a Somalian Irish.
I’ve been warning of a similar trend in Cluster-B-iden Admin/technocracy/deep state/warpigs projecting their four horsemen onto the whole of the world.
The technocracy is deranged, in the micro as with these footings for a deck rule, in the macro in this intractable affair in Ukraine, which the technocracy seamlessly ignited within a month after the debacle of a retreat in Afghanistan. That is technocratic logic, that it would be bad for the economy if we don’t have a hot war to fight, to make and sell weapons for, continually. Technocrats believe themselves at the lead of progress, leading unto Utopia, but it is looking ever more like apocalypse.
Probably the best thing for humanity at this point would be the utter collapse of the increasingly global technocratic, managerial state, power decentralized everywhere. As traumatic as that would be, it is probably necessary, whether it is simply about self-agency and freedom, or a path to the stars. The transhumanists and technocrats are dead wrong about people, people are not and never will be machines, the more you try to control them the more they are going to monkeywrench your machine. The more you try to control me the more I am going to fuck with your system. So help me God, I will do everything in my power to prevent any system of total control. I will help make a relative apocalypse before I accept a technocratic, tranhumanist utopia.
Take that to your CBDC, control freaks.
I think the biggest problem and it is a problem all over the world, is the rise of the administrator/HR/middle manager/bureaucratic state. This is all essentially busy work to keep our economy afloat and give some people authority to enforce top down edicts, but they esentially must justify their existence every day. So they need more rules and red tape just to look like they're doing something to manage the people who are doing the actual work and know what they are talking about (I know nothing of putting posts in the ground in a freeze zone but I'll take your word for it). I'd say half or more of our economy is filled with these metrics makers. How many jobs would be left without them?
"So help me God, I will do everything in my power to prevent any system of total control."
I'm with you, Hunter.
