This is amazing! I was on a bit of road trip and spent most of yesterday in the car, carefully listening to these posts on the Octagon Society. I'm dusting off my journal and eagerly setting off on an alchemical journey. ⛵️🌅

I am very glad to hear that, Carol. How were you listening, I am curious? Feel free to check in with any questions.

Hi Willamina ;)

If you download the substack app it gives you the option to listen to some of the posts, but not always.

P.s. My name is Carel (a friendly, burly man) not Carol 😁

Also, thanks, I didn't realize that about the app. I will have to see what the AI sounds like reading my stuff - especially the stuff that the AI's elsewhere censorship me for.

The substack AI reader is pretty good, although it sometimes gets things like inflection wrong. On the whole it's very understandable and 'easy on the ear'. I mostly choose to listen if it's available, and read along or re-read if something really grabs my attention.

Good to know. I am definitely going to make use of that. Heretofore I have hardly used the app, finding it less user friendly than the web page, especially as a writer. Also, I sent you an email from my new proton account.

Lol. Sorry about that. Glad though you have a sense of humor about me literally misgendering you 🤪

Hmm. this is interesting. I already raised a son, but, one thing he taught me, is that , if they don't want to learn the thing you want to teach, say, the trivium or something extensive...they won't. I hope you do not mind if i look through this, to see what else i may have missed.

We are all teachers, some more gifted than others, some not very good. It is the same for students, some are like a sponge, others like oil to water. And of course, no one can know or learn everything.

Unbridled enthusiasm and curiosity is my jam. Couple that with relentless effort, and you can hit even the most stubborn teenager eventually.

Thanks for pinging me on this.

I appreciate your occasional notes about teaching. I am curious to engage particularly the young men of this community....see what they are worth ;)

There’s one kid that started following my recently. Total moron, but seems capable of taking a hit.

So there’s hope.

I was an arrogant moron too as I recall. I think I got rid of most of the arrogance, lol

Same here.

I didn’t get rid of it, but shaped it into something useful.
