[post too long for email]
I’ve been very hard on the Trans movement on this Substack. I was hardly aware of the Trans movement until 2020. At first I was supportive, this is America, the land of the free, be who you feel called to be. I watched the first two seasons of the TV Series Pose, I thought it was well done and I sympathized. My fiance at the time was very supportive of Trans people, and I was supportive of her, so I simply imagined it was about equal rights.
My thinking began to shift when I heard about a teenage boy who won a girls state track meet. I challenged my fiance about that - what about the girl who took second, don’t her feelings matter, all the work she put in for that? My fiance supported the boy unequivocally, who she called a girl. That was not the beginning of the end of our relationship, but it was an inkling of irreconcilability.
I have come to believe the movement is about much more than trans.
Toby Rogers wrote about something I had been wondering about, how is everything about trans now? It’s everywhere in my face all the time. That isn’t trans doing that, they are just the prop. Trans are like 0.01% of Americans, they do not have the wealth or the power to control the media. Toby’s article caused a stir in the substack dissident community.
Others have pointed to the oppression Olympics; in woke ideology, the most oppressed are the most to be lifted up. That is why woke act like it is ok for trans to push people around, talk down to them, shout them down, mock them, call them bigots, even assault people, even rape - because they have been more oppressed than anyone ever. That is twisted, but so is woke ideology, trying to make the oppressed the new oppressors and oppressors the new oppressed.
But the woke and trans together don’t really have that much power, there are not that many of them. Both are being used by a movement they do not understand.
What do globalist elite and liberal women have in common? A fear of barbarians.
The fever dreams of hyper-liberal Canadian Margaret Atwood, Bruce Miller, and Hulu, combined with the election of Trump turned many a liberal professional woman into a man hater and Pharma whore, for covid jabs and daily anti-depression drugs (the former damaging fertility while exacerbating the authoritarian impulse, the latter destroying libido.) Anti-natalist feminism seems to have taught them the only thing worse than being a breeder in the style of The Handmaidens Tale is having kids with a masculine husband, apparently.
But I think Suzanne Collins had it more accurate, with the colorful, gaudy, attention demanding gender fluidity of the predatory Capital in The Hunger Games, using forced poverty and starvation to control the hinterlands.
Part of the reason I fell prey to Covid policy and the jabs (in the specific, the coercive idea that I might never see my parents again unless we all got jabbed) was the idea that the earth is beyond it’s carrying capacity, we are only as many as we are because of fossil fuels, population will decline as fossil fuels become less available, and pandemics would be part of that process. I didn’t think Malthus was wrong, necessarily, I just thought he erred in the timeline. I didn’t realize then how much I was being prepped for “pandemics”, which I no longer believe are a serious possibility, and for a population collapse, which I now think is mostly a choice notwithstanding fossil energy decline.
That bit about fossil fuels is something the Billio Gatai’z of the world never say out loud, but talk about discretely in their circle-jerks at Davos, Bilderberg, UN etc. Climate Change! doesn’t have much to do with greenhouse gasses but it does have everything to do with our elite thinking they can get ahead of the curve on population decline. It is inevitable one way or another, they think, so let us manage it, we are so fucking smart. Billio comes from a long line of eugenicists, there has never been a shortage of those among Western elite since the industrial revolution. Hence now the availability in a liberal state like mine, Minnesota, of abortion on demand at any time for any reason, and no records kept so we will have no idea how many are happening or what demographics are having abortions, all in the name of protecting minority women. That and our status as a trans refuge state, which is all about mutilating the reproductive parts of children. The ultimate dream of eugenicists is convincing people without letting them know you are convincing them, not to breed and to sterilize themselves and their kids, and to facilitate minority abortions. That and the jabs and covid policy generally, leading to a much greater excess mortality, particularly among young people, and a collapse in fertility, to the (stunning) silence of the media including Fox News.
They know people will not willingly be killed off, and that the only thing that really stands in their way, is those terrible barbarians of American culture, everyday conservative moms and dads mostly, but also these guys:
Who liberals all seem to think are like this guy (who is actually a Fed).
So the trans movement is not about lifting up trans, it is about reducing fertility, sexualizing and sterilizing children, destroying the family, making women bitter, isolated and depressed and above all humiliating and emasculating American men. Western men, really, which is also why they are flooding the country (and Europe) with brown men who are not emasculated, who have no moral or ethical foundation in freedom or democracy or the Constitution. And if they end up helping to prey upon the working poor white natives, well mores the better. (That said, the primary ally of working and middle class whites against the trans woke globalists is Hispanic culture.)
A favored substacker of mine reminded us not to be civil with those who would tear down our world in the name of saving democracy and the climate, who would censor us and call us racistbigotmisogynistxenophobes because we object to what is false and predatory.
I was for trans when I thought it was about equal rights.
When it became about erasing women, normalizing pederasty, and mass humiliation, when so many trans appear not to want equal rights as much as to be the absolute center of attention all the time, when trans seem to exemplify all the worst aspects of a caricature of women and then hold themselves up as better than women, when trans becomes the tip of the spear of a globalist undermining of America and the Constitution, then I no longer support trans.
A man is a man and a woman is a woman.
But again, the trans movement is not about trans. This is about making certain the barbarians can never again storm the proverbial gates, because they are so surveilled, controlled and physically, mentally and spiritually weakened.
But a word of warning: like the supposed neo-nazi above, the trans movement exists as part of the psy-op, an attempt to get white conservative America to react violently, to justify a Domestic Terrorism Act, to unleash a woke globalist transified military and Intelligence community on the American people.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The root word of trans is tra, an ancient sound which means to change over: trade, transact, transcend, transform, transfuse, transgress, transit, transition, translate, transmigration, transmission, transmogrify, transmute, transplant, transport, etc. Tra was synonymous in ancient culture with trance, a state of opening up the body and mind to the divine.
Another similar word that is common these days is trauma.
Trauma has become like a currency, traded for identity points; much is made of the trauma of being trans in America, why they supposedly are deserving of so much license. Trauma for much of the left has become like a badge, or a bludgeon to beat people with. The point it would seem is not to transcend trauma, or heal, as much as it is to make it fundamental to identity, the opposite of healing.
Part of the purpose of trance in ancient culture was to heal personal and societal wounds. Trauma is a wound, but growth comes from wounds. Wounds build character. Wounds make for maturity.
A problem arises if the change-over is radical without the spiritual bit, without some deep connection to the divine, without some intention to actually heal. If the change requires coercion, it is not legitimate - that is just a different kind of trauma. That is how we know the trans movement is not legitimate, because it is fundamentally scientific materialist, it depends utterly on the machination of tech, and then it is not even what it claims to be, while it demands your acceptance without question or else. As example, gender “therapy”, supposed healing, giving puberty blocking drugs to a child, will result in cascading physical failures, it is a trauma without the possibility of physical healing, utterly dependent for life on immense medical intervention.
Toby Rogers asked recently if Liberalism has failed. He believes it has changed-over, into what he calls stakeholder fascism:
If we are going to survive we need a coherent political philosophy. I’m not convinced that we have one right now. In the movement for medical freedom we’ve gotten really good at describing the current crisis and critiquing the other side. But our platform seems to be: “please stop poisoning and killing us.” If that were enough, we would have already won by now.
Underneath our pleas for bodily autonomy I think that we’re actually arguing for a return to political and economic liberalism (free people and free markets). But I think that we need to have a conversation about the limitations and contradictions of that approach
It is not enough to return to true liberalism, political or economic. What is missing is the spiritual component, the kind that understood trance is fundamental to being human, necessary to healing and growth, and that has a lot to do with plants.
If trans folks want to find healing and become part of society, I am open to that. But that will depend on healing from trauma, not beating me over the head with your trauma until I relent to your every demand. America is the land of the free and we should remember that, all of us, and seek to make that true for all of us, without traumatizing each other further.
The change-over we all need is a spiritual one. I don’t know exactly what that looks like, but I am going to keep writing about it.
This is fantastic - I love your writing.
Your description of coming to understand the trans movement perfectly describes my journey from a pro-feminism woman to decidedly anti-feminist. I was good with it when it meant equal protection or possibilities and not societally forcing women “into the kitchen” if that’s not what they wanted. But no, decades later, and having my own daughter and seeing the world she now lives in, I’m embarrassed by women. That feminism started as rights for women is a given. That it now is weaponized against women with them falling on their own proverbial swords is blatantly obvious. They’re fighting for their own erasure and elimination from what makes them vital to a functioning world. I refuse to play oppression Olympics (and I have special needs kids - the push to elevate disability is strong, too, and I do not buy it), and like Chris Bray says, seriously, how does this end?
Great piece, Hunter! It is rather synchronistic that you are posting this today, as I am finishing up my own article on this "movement"💩🤣😭. When I do publish my piece, I'll be linking to your post.
