He's no expert in my mind. However, I do suspect that the USA is not the only country to play with geoengineering. Have you noticed that when there is a problem to be solved, technology is always the preferred approach? And "just say no" only applies to the poor and marginalized?

Fires that start where humans live, tend to be caused by something that humans do. Fires that start in remote wilderness areas, tend to have natural causes. This has been the equation for a long time.

Forest management practices and fire suppression policies have been blamed for disastrous fire seasons in the past. They lead to a build up in fuel.
